About Michael McKenzie
Michael has been creating art for over 25 years and has studied abstract, cubism, expressionism, impressionism, pointillism, primitivism, realism and surrealism. His art work tends to focus on photorealism. At age 8 he received Randolph Caldecott Medal honors for his illustrations in a children's book. The Caldecott Medal is awarded annually by the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC), a division of the American Library Association.
Michael has a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and Master of Science in Psychology. He has fluency in French, German, Spanish, and is learning Russian.
His travels include three continents where he studied a variety of architecture, nature, and cuisine. He translates his talents on canvas into photography. His travels took him to the wonderful lands of Germany, Scotland and the Isle of Skye.
Michael deployed to Iraq in 2003 for Operation Iraqi Freedom. While serving in an armored combat unit, Michael still managed to find time to do art and teach his brothers in arms. After engaging in battle, Michael uses art to calm his spirit and help bring him peace of mind.
Michael is also a member of Mensa, the high IQ society, which provides a forum for intellectual exchange among its members.
